Largest/Smallest antelope - Mature specimens of the tiny royal antelope (Neotragus pygmaeus), which is found alone or in pairs in the dense forests of West Africa, measure 10 in at the shoulder and weight only 7-8 lb. / The distinctive giant, or Derby, eland (Taurotragus derbianus) of western and central Africa can attain a height of 6 ft at the shoulder and weight over 2,000 lb. As this scale drawing shows, the royal antelope might be ill-advised to venture out of its dense forest and on to the open plains or lightly wooded areas that serve as the 'land of the giants.'
